Join us for our Sept 28 guided walk through the boreal forest as we visit a sacred petroform site: rocks and boulders arranged by Indigenous peoples over millennia. Hear stories, histories, and teachings from local Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, who have shared welcomed visitors to this area for thousands of years. Connect to perspectives and energies bigger than ourselves. There are two parts to this event, Bannock Point Petroforms and Pine Point Rapids. Our day will begin at Bannock Point Petroforms at 10:00 a.m. This tour will take between one hour and one hour and a half. Diane Maytwayashing, an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, will provide an overview of the park and share information on Indigenous histories in the area. As you walk along well-travelled trails, Diane will point out specific petroforms and share stories and teachings.

Next, at approx. 11:30, we will drive to Pine Point Rapids, about 1 km. away where you can choose a 4.8 km. hike or the 7.5 km., more challenging option. There is a picnic table at rapids but not enough seating for all of us. Please bring a towel or something light to sit on, if you wish.
There are only 20 spots available for this event; please sign up soon to avoid disappointment. A fee for this event of $25 per person is required to pay the cost of the tour guide. Our rain date is Oct. 12th. Please bring a minimum of 2 litres of water, lunch and snacks, a hat and comfortable footwear and bugspray.
