"I left the lodge with a lightened heart. Enjoyed the company and the spirit of the participants. They were very insightful and provided food for thought. The laughter we shared was uplifting, nourishing and therapeutic. The retreat has made a difference in my life."
Monthly Walk - Feb 24
Forks Public Art Tour: Meet at Fools and Horses coffee shop at the Forks (main floor, common area) and meet KC Adams, an Anishinaabe, Inninew, and British artist and educator based in Winnipeg. KC is a multimedia artist who works in sculpture, installation, drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, printmaking, birchbark and quillwork. KC will be speaking about some of her artwork including Tanisi Keke Totomak (What can we do to respect each other), a metal sculpture near the Human Rights Museum, and Niimaamaa, a collaborative work with Jamie Isaac and Val Vint, that looks at the relationship to our mother, the earth and the waters at The Forks. We will also look at other public art in the Forks area and walk along the Nestowaya river trail to Broadway and Donald where there is a tribute to Shoal Lake. We aim to be back at the Forks by noon and cover about 3 - 3.5 km. with many stops to look at art. The walk will include 12 pieces of art at the Forks, the Shoal Lake Water tribute at Broadway and Donald and public art at Upper Fort Garry. Walking sticks are recommended.
